“Nurturing the Next Generation of Musicians in UNESCO’s City of Music”
Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality’s 2025–2026 Children’s and Youth Conservatory Talent Exams wrapped up with an enthusiastic turnout. Held at the Vali Kemalettin Gazezoğlu Cultural Center, the auditions brought together families, music lovers, and dozens of hopeful young performers. By the end of the day, 61 students—38 in the Children’s Conservatory and 23 in the Youth Conservatory—earned a place in the new training program.
Parents filled the hall as candidates showed off their skills, creating a lively atmosphere and plenty of proud moments. The event highlighted not only the children’s musical abilities but also their excitement for the stage.
Classes start on September 20, 2025, and run through June 21, 2026, giving students a full year of hands-on music education. The program offers instrument, piano, choir, Orff, solfège, and music theory lessons, blending traditional Turkish music with global styles.
City officials say the conservatory will also host workshops and concerts so students can gain real stage experience. The goal is to help these young talents grow as performers while keeping Şanlıurfa’s rich musical heritage alive.
With this new class of budding artists, Şanlıurfa—honored as a UNESCO City of Music—continues to strengthen its reputation as a place where music and culture thrive.
