UCLG-MEWA & WALD INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION MANAGEMENT SUMMIT

WORKSHOP ON STRENGTHENING COORDINATION ON MIGRATION MANAGMENT AT LOCAL LEVEL 

 

“The International Migration Management Summit” was held on 8th-10th of November, 2016 in cooperation with the United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA) and the World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD) and hosted by the Metropolitan Municipality of Şanlıurfa.

 

 

It organized in an effort to discuss over waves of migration from political, financial, legal and sociological perspectives as a matter of interest to MEWA region including Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan in particular as well as many other countries, the summit  gathered  international organizations, public and non-governmental organization officials and scholars from various disciplines for two days in Şanlıurfa to dwell on current issues on the agenda of migration management.

 

 

The summit is intended to raise awareness about challenges facing Turkey and the surroundings and take this occasion to debate over current problems of the city resulting from migration and provide a favourable setting for local authorities to exchange information and experience.
