The richness of Şanlıurfa's folk music and the fact that it constitutes an important place in Turkey is due to the variety of instruments used.
As for the folk instrument, it is understood that the instrument is the product of the people who do not comply with the standard-theoretic and acoustic rules, which are made by simple means which are not factory goods and by the people themselves. In Şanlıurfa, instruments are playing very important role at the weddings, "dağ yatı", " sıra gecesi " and "asbap gecesi".
Commonly used instruments are: Cura, Çoğür, Bağlama, Divan Sazı, Ud, Cümbüş, Urfa Tanburu, Kanun, Violin, Kaval, Zurna, Drum, Tef, Darbuka, Kaşık, Zilli Maşa, Çarpara and Lağen. Also it is known that two instruments named Nesetkâr and Rebap are used earlier but they are not used today.
